Our friends from the Buckeye Yard and Garden Newsletter have been sharing some very interesting tips for us to watch for in our yards.
If you have evergreen trees in your yards, be sure to observe them to see if you are getting any spider mites showing up. If you think you may have a problem, cut off a fresh sample and bring it into us here at Copley Feed for identification and a cure.
Sawfly Leafminers fly could show up in your Birch trees, European Alder, Elm or Hawthorns. Be sure to inspect them to see if you have any unwanted critters creeping around.
I have seen some Carpenter Bees Buzzing around our house the other day. The females are collecting pollen while the males buzz around to protect the area from other males. These bees look very similar to bumble bees, but they lack stingers. Carpenter bees can cause damage to exposed horizontal wood, especially cedar or pine. If you notice them drilling into your homes, sheds, or other wood you do not want them in, stop into Copley Feed for the product to get rid of them. If they are just pollinating, then lets just leave them be, but keep an eye on what they are doing.
Here at Copley Feed, we are ready and waiting to help you with your bug and disease problems. Remember that if you have something in your backyard that you can't identify, bring us a fresh sample and we will try to help you with it. Please don't bring us pictures on your cell phones of it. They are very hard to determine the problem from.
Thanks to all the people at the Buckeye Yard & Garden newsletter for helping us be aware of what could be happening in our backyards. Check them out at www.bygl.osu.edu
